Local Yarn Store Day is April 25, 2026! You don’t want to miss it!
What is Local Yarn Store Day? It is annual celebration dedicated to supporting independent yarn shops and the communities they nurture. Here at Black Locust Farm we will be celebrating in a BIG way! Here is a sneak peek of what we have in store for you:
- Free grab bag with a pre-tax purchase of $20 or more (one per person.)
- Exclusive yarn from Emma’s Yarn and Wonderland Yarns, dyed especially for Local Yarn Store Day 2026.
- Free download code for patterns by Casapinka and Double the Stitches with the purchase of yarn to make the project.
- Free pattern download code from Berroco and Malabrigo when you purchase their yarn.
- Free code for a discounted pattern by various independent dyers.
Trunk Shows
Black Locust Farm often hosts trunk shows by independent dyers. Destination Yarn, Purl Talk, 1918 Yarn Company, and Zee Zee Textiles have all visited with trunk shows in the last year. Watch our socials and website for upcoming shows.
We participate in the Heartland Yarn Adventure in the summer and the Yarn Discovery Tour in September. These events also include the premiere of shop exclusive colorways by our favorite indy dyers.
Yarny ‘Holidays‘
We observe Local Yarn Store Day in April and Worldwide Knit in Public Day in June, celebrating with special yarn, patterns, and giveaways.
Knit the Rainbow
Every October, we ship a package to Knit the Rainbow, a non-profit organization that provides handmade items to help homeless LGBTQ+ youth survive brutal winters in large cities, including New York, Chicago, and Detroit. Need yarn for this project? Cathy will provide it at no cost
