The Story Behind Black Locust Farm

Black Locust began as a business when Cathy’s German Shepherd Dog Trooper asked for sheep for his birthday.  Suddenly, we have wool, and Cathy had a good excuse to get a spinning wheel.   Cathy started the business in her home, which is Black Locust Farm; and quickly became too big and needed a true storefront.   The shop started out very small – a corner in a Yoga studio- and continued to grow.  With Cathy being a yarn “junkie”, the shop has grown quite a bit over the past 12 years.    Cathy has been knitting since she was 9 years old and living in Wisconsin.  She started spinning in high school.  Cathy loves to teach and has taught both beginners and advanced knitters.
